The historic Wyoming Valley is proud of its heritage dating back to the site of a Revolutionary War-era fort that the original settlers built.
Wilkes-Barre is the county seat of Luzerne County and is home to a Veterans Hospital which provides health care services to veterans in Wilkes-Barre, northeastern and central Pennsylvania and southern New York State.
National Guard Armories are spread throughout many of our communities such as the 109th Infantry in West Pittston, Kingston, Plymouth and Nanticoke. Pennsylvania units have taken part in every conflict America has faced, from the Revolutionary War through Operations New Dawn/Enduring Freedom, as well as ongoing peacekeeping missions in Kosovo, Bosnia, Egypt and elsewhere. Since September 11, 2001, more than 17,000 of our Soldiers and Airmen have deployed in support of the Global Contingencies.
Riverfront views and recreation are the newest attraction in the Wyoming Valley. The recently completed riverfront project on The Susquehanna River enriched the community with perennial gardens and a boat launch for recreation access.  More artistic activities can be found a short distance away at the amphitheater or The Kirby Center for the Performing arts , an historic theater known for delighting audiences with a philharmonic orchestra, Broadway shows, opera, ballet, children's  shows and other concert venues. The downtown area also welcomes art and movies lovers with local galleries and a stadium movie complex. Dining options are also abundant with varied downtown restaurants and Barnes & Noble cafe.

The  original roots of Wilkes-Barre that originated as the Anthracite Capital of the World now fosters  a diversified economic focus composed of service, manufacturing, industrial, wholesale, retail, technology, internet and medical industries. Legalized gambling gave birth to area Casinos and the entertainment and restaurants that accompany them ' Ruth Chris steak house and Wolfgang puck to name a few.
Our location also makes traveling to New York City and Philadelphia a fun easy adventure with only a two hour commute. And a trip to Washington, D.C. is a short 3 hour journey.
