About Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot
Located in Parris Island, South Carolina the Marine Corps recruit training has been located here since Nov. 1, 1915. Located on 8,095 acres within Port Royal South Carolina, 5 miles south of Beaufort. Today, more than 17,000 recruits come to Parris Island every year to transform into US Marines. Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island is often abbreviated as MCRD PI. More than 600 drill instructors train the new recruits.
