About NAS Whiting Field

Located near Pensacola, Milton is situated on Florida's panhandle. With a population of just over 7, 000 people, Milton enjoys small town ambiance with modern amenities. Originally called "Scratch Ankle" because of the briars and brambles that grew in the area, Milton was once a hub for lumber barges.

 
Naval Air Station Whiting Field is the second largest Navy pilot training base; it has three fully operational air fields with 13 outlying fields, spanning over 12,000 acres. In addition to training Navy pilots, NAS Whiting Field also provides training for the Coast Guard, Air Force and U.S. Marine Corps.
