About Joint Base Langley Eustis

Perhaps the largest military installation in the world is located in the Hampton Roads Region of Virginia. The area includes Newport News, Williamsburg, Portsmouth, Hampton, Norfolk, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.

Hampton Roads is a diverse, welcoming and easy to know community. It is one of the nation's largest Metropolitan Areas; it is rich in history, brimming with natural resources and full of economic, cultural and recreational opportunity.

Positioned in southeastern Virginia where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, Hampton Roads is divided between the 'Southside''Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Smithfield, Suffolk and Virginia Beach; and the 'Peninsula' ' Gloucester, Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg, James City County and York County.

In January 2010, Fort Eustis and Langley Air Force Base merged their administrative operations to form Joint Base Langley-Eustis. Joint Base Langley-Eustis is located in the heart of Hampton Roads in Newport News and is in close proximity to Hampton, Poquoson and Williamsburg.
  
Air Force units based here include the 633rd Air Base Wing, 192D Fighter Wing, 1st Fighter Wing, and the 480 ISR Wing.

Army units based here include TRADOC, 7th Sustainment Brigade, 18th Weather Squadron, 93D Signal Brigade, 360th Training Squadron Detachment (Helicopter Training), 597th Transportation Brigade, Army Training, Support Center, Aviation Applied Technology Directorate, Balfour Beatty Communities, Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, Criminal Investigation Division (12th Military Police Detachment) Inspector General, Installation Management Command - Atlantic Region, Joint Deployment Training Center, Mission Installation Contracting Command, U.S. Army Aviation Logistics School, and the 733rd Mission Support Group

As the first landing place of the early English settlers, it's no surprise that so many residents have settled into Hampton, Virginia for themselves.
