Growing steadily since the early 40's, Jacksonville displays its proud military roots. Downtown you'll find the Marine Museum, the Vietnam Memorial and the Freedom Fountain. The City of Jackson Recreation & Parks offers numerous programs and activities to keep everyone from toddlers to seniors happy and active.
 
The city's Beautification and Appearance Commission has successfully completed landscaping projects throughout the town to make it a place for all to enjoy. They are particularly proud of their Champion Tree program ' another sign that living in Jackson is a win-win situation.

Camp Lejeune, nearby, has a motto of "Expeditionary Forces in Readiness." It's home to three Marine commands and one Navy command. The community surrounding Camp Lejeune is home to over 170,000 active duty military personnel, military retirees and civilians. Outside of the town, the base itself has plenty to offer its residents including theaters, a fitness center,  a beach, a commissary and a credit union.

 
Camp Lejeune has earned the Commander-in-Chief's Award for Installation Excellence a most respectable six times.
