About Charles George VA Medical Center

Asheville is proud to be home to a prestigious VA Medical Center with 119 acute care beds and a separate 120 bed extended care and rehabilitation center. This facility services more than 31,000 veterans from Western North Carolina and portions of South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
 
This facility provides primary, tertiary and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery and mental health to name a few. The hospital also provides a full range of patient care services with state of the art technology and programs in education and research.

This region has been attracting newcomers, retirees and second home buyers for centuries. Outdoor recreation is a huge draw with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the DuPont Forest, and a portion of the 469 mile Blue Ridge Parkway right in our back yard.  Outdoor pursuits of all types are popular with some of our favorites being hiking, fishing and cycling.
